Aulani is a peaceful place, and if you couldn’t already tell: we recommend it. (hint: See all of our Aulani articles here) There is however a place that takes the tranquility of Aulani and takes it to a whole new level: the Laniwai spa. On our recent trip I was able to spend a morning here in the spa and it was every bit as peaceful, beautiful, and memorable as I remember.
You enter through a hallway where you cast a stone into this pool – a mesmerizing start to the experience. From there your guide will show you everything you need to know about getting ready, amenities available, and more.
I arrived (and recommend you do too) 90 minutes early. After making my custom sugar scrub to use later, I showered, enjoyed the various pools in the garden, relaxed with flavored waters and treats in the various lounges, and just let go of all the cares and worries I was holding on to!
Here you see the yummy little muffin I enjoyed – you’ll also find assorted flavored waters that were really delicious in addition to being hydrating.
While on this visit I did enjoy a facial treatment, and every aspect of my treatment was perfection. They have some really unique Hawaiian offerings, massages, full body wraps and treatments – what you’d like to book is totally up to your budget and personal preference. For me what makes this a true experience is the amenities available.
I really appreciate that you are never rushed. You’re welcome to stay as long as you’d like both before and after your treatment. I was able to book the appointment prior to our stay via email, and was able to adjust the exact time on arrival when I changed my mind about which day to take a few hours for myself. The staff is very accommodating – but as you can imagine it is very popular so book something early is my suggestion! Speaking of suggestions, here are my tips:
- Stop by first thing in the morning for “open house” when you can walk around and check out the facility
- Bring something to read! I did not this time, but would have liked having a journal to write in or something to read as I enjoyed this space
- Don’t be in a hurry. Allow a minimum of an hour, preferably 2-3 in addition to your treatment time
- Take full use of the amenities
- Bring that bathing suit!
- Don’t miss the cool shower circle for different water experiences. Each one has a very different feel and temperature and it was a great way to begin my time in the garden
There are a myriad of outdoor shower experiences, tubs and pools both hot and cold, and so much more to enjoy. I personally liked experiencing all of this prior to my treatment, then enjoying the indoor lounge afterwards. For the cost – and it is pricey – it seems like the best value to really take advantage of the amenities included in your treatment price!

For men or women – this is definitely worth the splurge and will really add a memorable experience to your Aulani stay.
