Aulani: Laniwai Spa

Aulani is a peaceful place, and if you couldn’t already tell: we recommend it. (hint: See all of our Aulani articles here) There is however a place that takes the tranquility of Aulani and takes it to a whole new level: the Laniwai spa. On our recent trip I was able to spend a morning here in the spa and it was every bit as peaceful, beautiful, and memorable as I remember.

You enter through a hallway where you cast a stone into this pool – a mesmerizing start to the experience. From there your guide will show you everything you need to know about getting ready, amenities available, and more.

Olelo Room: Our favorite evening at Aulani

When it comes to a relaxed evening in Aulani, our choice is clear: the Olelo Room! Here is our video look at the evening we spent there:

This space is only open in the evening, has appetizers and a full bar, live music, and is one of the most beautiful spots to spend any Aulani evening. Our favorites are the DVC off the menu cocktail, the Big Island Iced Tea, as well as the chicken wings, and the sliders. Though to be fair? We’ve yet to order anything we didn’t love here!  You can find more information and details about their menu on the Aulani website here. 

Dining in Disneyland Paris: a guide to booking

This week we were able to book our dining for our upcoming Disneyland Paris trip, and I want to share with you all that we learned as well as how our booking experience went. First off, here are the basics:

  1. Restaurants that accept reservations in Disneyland Paris can be booked 60 days in advance by telephone (+33 1 60 30 40 50 )
  2. Except breakfast. That you can book once you are on site – unless you pre-pay for a breakfast with characters when booking a room
  3. Many restaurants are only open for lunch, or are open hours that are quite different than park operating hours
  4. Many restaurants have a menu where it is a set price for the meal, or for appetizer + main course(some also with dessert)
  5. Disneyland Paris DOES offer a meal plan (1/2 board or full, at a number of “levels”)
  6. There aren’t penalties for cancelling reservations last minute unlike Disneyland CA or WDW

This is a lot of information to take in – if you’re planning a trip as we are I would recommend first getting a look at the menus which are on the Disneyland Paris site, as well as reading a few Trip Advisor reviews, and Disney blog reviews to get a feel for what restaurants offer, what they cost, and what interests your party. I would also recommend writing down the names of the places that you like and want to consider eating at.

note: on the website you’ll see some photos, find a full menu, and be able to see where the restaurant is but you can not book online, nor will you see future operating hours.

Disney World dining: Restaurants we will (and will not) return to next visit

Planning for a Disney World vacation takes place casually, and for many months sometimes even years prior to a visit. Things like reading blog posts, thinking about the last trip, and considering preferences for next time is the bulk of the planning – perhaps pondering would be a better term. The girls and I got into a discussion today about dining, and the restaurants we went to on the last trip (2016) that we definitely would – or would not – return to in 2019. In this post I will discuss these new to us dining experiences, and why they’re making the list!
